With a close win over the Eagles last Sunday (31-28), Patriot fans ponder if the world has found a weakness in the armor. The seemingly unbeatable Patriots looked quite beatable against a team they should have easily steamrolled.

Prior to the game, Tom Brady talked with WEEI sports radio and explained their strategy around "blowout" games:

"We're not trying to win 42-28, we're trying to kill people." said Brady. "We're trying to blow them out if we can. You want to build momentum for each week. You don't want to be up 42-7 or 35-7, and all of a sudden you look up and it's 35-21. We don't want to be part of that. You don't want to go into next week realizing that for the last 18 minutes of the game your team didn't play well or didn't play up to its capabilities. You gave other teams momentum for the next time they play you or you gave another team a reason not to be intimidated."

If I were a betting man, I'd put my money on Tom NOT going for the deal. $1 mil is too low, and based on past interviews, Tom seems to have difficulty seeing himself as a sex symbol.

In the closest game of the season, against what is most likely their most formidable opponent of the regular season, Tom Brady and the Patriots managed another win yesterday, this time against the Colts 24-20. In a game full of bad referee calls and multiple errors on both sides, it all came down to who had the ball at the end of the 4th quarter.

Kissing pictures aside, things may not be so great in Miami.

According to the Boston Globe:

Notwithstanding their very public display of affection in Miami over the weekend, all may not be well with Tom Brady and Gisele Bundchen. Word is the star QB and his supermodel sweetheart are squabbling, and the source of the friction, at least in part, is Brady's relationship with his ex-girlfriend Bridget Moynahan, the mother of his son, John Edward Thomas Moynahan. We're told Brady had a lengthy phone conversation with Bridget while in Miami, and Bundchen was upset to the point of tears. OK! confirms that the pretty pair are at odds over Brady's desire to spend more time with his pigskin progeny. The magazine reports that Bundchen recently pulled Brady out of a Starbucks here so that their argument would not create a spectacle. "Tom said that his priority was Gisele, but she was shaking her head," an eyewitness told OK! "She took his hand, and they walked out without even getting their coffee."

On Sunday's game against the Dolphins, backup QB Matt Cassel entered the game with a 22 point lead and a little over 10 minutes remaining in the 4th quarter. To everyone's dismay, he quickly tossed off a pass that was intercepted for a touchdown. He was immediately pulled out of the game and Tom Brady was sent back in. Ouch, that's gotta hurt.

But Tom, the consummate professional and team leader, came to Matt's defense after the game, telling the press:

"That was unfortunate because Matt works awfully hard," Brady said. "I think they disguised the pressure, and Jason Taylor being the defensive player of the year last year that he is, came over and made a great play."

It's starting to get ridiculous, and seems almost cruel to make any team play against New England. Tom Brady and the Patriots continued their undefeated season on Sunday, crushing the Dolphins 49-28. And based on the very limited attendance at the game in Miami, no one is surprised.

Tom broke a team record and threw six touchdown passes, playing as if the Miami defense wasn't even on the field.

Again, rumors are circulating that Gisele had ANOTHER public outburst at Tom Brady over dinner. This time, the spat happened at Extra Virgin in New York. Apparently, there was some shouting between the couple and it ended with Gisele leaving the restaurant with Tom left behind at the table by himself.

In a conference call with the west coast media, Tom Brady talked about his thoughts on the upcoming home-opener game against the Chargers:

“They've got a great team. I know they think they've improved from last year. There's 11 Pro Bowlers last year, one of the best running backs of all time, the best tight end in the league, a great offensive line, a Pro Bowl quarterback, two of the best outside linebackers in the game. They have a ball-hawking secondary, a great group of linebackers, the best nose tackle in the league. They're great at every position.

“We played these guys in a very meaningful game last year. We came out ahead and I'm sure they've had this highlighted on their schedule for a long time, and so have we. It should be a great contest. The team that is more prepared and the team that executes better is going to win the game.

“I tell you, it's a great defense. They're able to rush the passer, they're a pressure defense. It's a great team. Any time you play great teams, they're going to win their fair share of battles. I just hope we can go out there and play a little bit better than we played the last time that we played them.”

One unit has 3 bedrooms, 3.5 baths, and is selling for $4.59 million. The other unit, which has 3 bedrooms and 2.5 baths is selling for $3.99 million. Tom will be keeping the building's top two floors.

As Tom Brady and Matt Cassel practiced in Foxboro today (pictured above), Sports Illustrated released a new interview with Tom, whose noteworthy quotes include:

"You want me to help guys be cool? Why me? I was the little sports nerd in high school who hardly ever had a girlfriend!"

About celebrity:

"I get so embarrassed having everybody looking at me," he says. "I just want to stop and go, 'What are you staring at?' I mean, I'm just walking out the door, you know? And people follow me! In the season opener against the Jets, Tom Brady and the Patriots performed amazingly and won 38-14 in a game that had few errors and where Tom was only hit once. In the post-game news conference, Tom stated:

"With plenty of time to throw, I had plenty of time to survey the field," said Brady. "When they're pressured, they always had the right guy … It was nice that we had the time to throw it."

"I think that offensive line did a spectacular job," he said. "They work so hard and I think they're so well coached. (Offensive line coach Dante Scarnecchia) puts a lot of pressure on the offensive line and they're so consistent."

Taking It Easy at Practice

Tom Brady sat out most of practice yesterday in Foxborough (pictured above) officially due to his "chronic" shoulder injury dating back to 2002. Of course, Belichick has used the injury report to his strategic advantage in the past, and now with new NFL rules I previously posted about, this may be a case of coachmanship and not injury.

But in his defense, Tom said at the beginning of preseason that he would take it easy:

"One thing I'm doing a little bit different is that I'm really monitoring my throws in the preseason," he said. "Before I'd come out and I'd throw 100 balls a day. After a while, you throw 100 balls here at practice, that's 200 balls a day in two-a-days, and you go, `After four days, why is my arm sore?' Well, because you're throwing (so much)."

After spending some time in Boston prior to Thursday's game, Tom Brady and Gisele headed back to New York for the holiday weekend. This photo was taken of them on Saturday, 9/1.

Meanwhile, this weekend the press has been slamming Gisele for sending Tom's new baby a gift basket that included a onesie with the word "Supermodel" across it. The assumption is that Bridget was offended by the $1000 gift basket.

When it comes to the baby, Gisele can do no right with this issue... whatever she says or does will be taken the wrong way.

Baby Name Correction

As Tom Brady warms-up at practice on Tuesday, the rest of the world hears some news about his son's name. Bridget Moynahan, via her publicist, announced that the boy's name is "John Edward Thomas Moynahan", not "Jonathan Brady" as previously reported.

Well, that makes more sense. But the boy's initials "JET" irked more than a few Patriot fans.

Tom Brady, proving once again the professional that he truly is, was able to put the stresses of his personal life behind last night, and deliver a 24-7 win against the Carolina Panthers.

As reported in the Boston Globe: "In two-plus quarters, Brady completed 17 of 22 passes for 167 yards and two touchdowns with no interceptions. Brady led the Patriots to points on three of five possessions (six, if you count his first-half kneeldown) and one ended in a missed field goal. Details are slowly starting to emerge regarding Tom Brady's new baby boy. In Touch is reporting that Bridget delivered her son via c-section, after some complications arose. Also, they are reporting that Tom arrived a few minutes after the baby was born.

While the parents have yet to pick a name, The Boston Herald reports that Bridget is considering "William".

The baby was born yesterday at St John's Health Center in Santa Monica California a little before 2pm, he's 22 inches and weighs 7 pounds 14 ounces.

Personal dramas aside, Tom Brady took some time with the press to talk about what he needs to work on, what his team needs to work on, and his hopes for the upcoming season.

"I'm always excited about our potential, but the potential and the reality is something that's very different," said Brady. "I've heard over the last six months the expectations for this team and we can just throw the ball on whoever we want and run it and gain 450 yards a game. But it takes a lot. It takes a lot of guys coming together and finding a role and playing with toughness and effort.

"We've played two preseason games. We haven't played any regular-season games to really see where we're at. We've got two very valuable weeks coming up in order to get ready for our opener. The potential of the team, that's one thing, but really going out there to see what we can accomplish, starting in Week 1, is going to be what's most important."

Says the secret source: "They'd like to keep it small and simple" and that Gisele is "looking at designs by Chanel and Dior." I'm not sure if that's in reference to dresses or shackles. You decide!

"You realize when you come here you try to focus your attention and compartmentalize what you're doing so you can give this team what it needs because that's really what you sign up for when you come here," says Brady. He added "I'd hate to come in here and have my mind on 100 different things when that's not going to help this team at all. So the first pre-season game didn't go so well for the Patriots against Tampa Bay (13-10 for Tampa), but Tom Brady had limited time and the entire game was played without Randy Moss.

"I'm looking forward to getting everybody back. We've had a bunch of guys out," Brady said, when asked about Moss. "We'll see what we're made of when we get out there and see what we can produce," Brady added. "Hopefully, it will turn out better than 0-for-2 drives, like we did tonight." Link to full article.

The Boston Globe reports that Tom Brady may be back in court next week once again speaking as a witness for his friend and former offensive coordinator Charlie Weis. Weis sued two MGH doctors for medical malpractice related to a gastric bypass surgery he had in 2002. Brady testified at an earlier trial, which was ultimately declared a mistrial when the doctors/defendants came to the rescue of a passed-out juror. Link to article.

On Wednesday, the Plumbers and Gasfitters Union formed a picket line outside his Beacon Hill Boston condo, which is currently under renovation. The Union reps claim that non-union, low paid plumbers were hired to work on the property.
